Description
Pseudhapalopus sp. blue arrives from the humid forests of Colombia carrying something that stops collectors mid-scroll: a genuine blue iridescence on a dwarf body barely larger than a thumbnail. True blue is uncommon at this scale among miniature theraphosids, and Pseudhapalopus sp. blue wears it without ceremony — the dark prosoma and opisthosoma catching light almost incidentally, as if the animal itself hadn't noticed.
Temperamentally, this is a straightforward little spider. Its terrestrial habits keep it visible and predictable, it shows no real inclination toward threat displays, and its appetite runs in sensible proportion to its small frame — steady, unfussy, easy to read over time.
A modest enclosure suits it perfectly: roughly 5 cm of coconut fibre substrate, a small hide and a shallow water dish. Maintain moderate humidity through regular misting, and room temperature is sufficient year-round. There is little here to overthink, which leaves more room to simply watch.
For the keeper who has developed a particular affection for dwarf theraphosids and wants one that offers something visually singular, Pseudhapalopus sp. blue earns its place on the shelf without demanding much in return. Years from now, it will still be glinting quietly from the corner of its enclosure — small, unhurried, and subtly unlike anything else in the collection.
