About ArgiopeTerra
Your passion is waiting for your courage to catch up with it.
The beginnings of ArgiopeTerra
The story of ArgiopeTerra goes back to 2007, when our paths crossed at one of the Białystok terrarium-keepers' meets. What brought us together was not only a shared passion, but genuine mutual respect and friendship. Over years of meeting up, exchanging experience and growing our collections, a need took root in us to build something bigger — a community where professionals share their knowledge with people just beginning their journey into the world of exotic invertebrates. That led, in 2011, to founding the Podlasie Terrarium Keepers' Association (Podlaski Związek Terrarystów), an organization dedicated to promoting the hobby in our home region. Yet we sensed all along that this was a step toward something larger — not a local community, but a nationwide brand that would make exotic invertebrates available to buy and let us share our experience and knowledge. And so, on 13 December 2021, ArgiopeTerra was born — the brand that defined who we are and what our mission is.
Who we are
We're professionals whose curiosity about the natural world kindled a passion that has now lasted nearly 20 years. In that time we've steadily built our expertise and grown our breeding operation with one goal: to bring even the seemingly hardest-to-find species to experienced keepers, and to help everyone just starting out on their tarantula-keeping adventure. Today, after two decades, we share our experience and knowledge with thousands of keepers around the world.
Our offer
Our range covers nearly 200 species, and the total number of spiders in our breeding facility exceeds 50,000. We sell both single animals and wholesale, helping professional breeding operations grow at home and abroad. We treat our breeding work as a mission — approaching the safety of our spiders and the satisfaction of our customers with the greatest care.
The founders and owners
Piotr Gierej
Co-founder and owner of ArgiopeTerra, and a lifelong enthusiast of exotic invertebrates. His adventure began in 2004 with his first tarantula — Tliltocatl albopilosus (then Brachypelma albopilosum). Over the years he expanded his collection with scorpions (including the Buthidae family, legally traded at the time) and reptiles. He was a longtime moderator of the Tarantulas section on the largest terrarium forum, and a co-initiator of the Białystok Terrarium Keepers' Meets, which have brought the Podlasie keeping community together since 2007. He began breeding — and selling — on a large scale in 2007, continually expanding the collection and building business relationships around the world.
At ArgiopeTerra he runs the business and the online store, including key-account service, international wholesale orders and administration, as well as creating, implementing and testing new ideas to grow the ArgiopeTerra brand's reach and appeal.
Daniel Puchalski
Co-founder and owner of ArgiopeTerra and a longtime keeper of all kinds of exotic animals. His journey began in 2005 with stick and leaf insects, and in 2006 — with his first tarantula, Tliltocatl vagans (formerly Brachypelma vagans) — he turned to keeping tarantulas. He built his experience over many years keeping tarantulas, scorpions, snakes, geckos, mantises, centipedes, millipedes, roaches, beetles, ants and true bugs. In 2010 he focused his passion on breeding (his first egg sac: Pterinochilus chordatus).
At ArgiopeTerra he handles breeding and oversees the safety and smooth running of the facility. Thanks to his experience, the ArgiopeTerra range keeps growing — he currently produces over 500 eggsacs a year.
