How we pack your tarantula
Every animal leaves us packed as if we were shipping it to ourselves — it's a procedure we follow on every order, not a lottery. Your tarantula travels in a ventilated container with lightly moist substrate, secured so it can't shift in transit, with the whole package thermally insulated.
Heat pack — included when needed. In the colder months we add a heat pack as standard, at no extra charge — never something you buy separately. The animal's safety matters more than saving a few cents.
Weather window. We ship live tarantulas only in safe temperatures (roughly April–October). During frosty months we hold shipments. If the forecast threatens your parcel, we'll contact you about a new send date.
Shipping options (EU)
We pack every parcel with the same care — the difference is in the speed and predictability of the route.
- FedEx Priority — recommended for live animals. Fast, short, predictable transit. The only option covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee. From approx. €50.
- DPD — the economy option. Depending on the country, up to 3–5 days in transit. Usually fine in good weather, but over such a long route, with many variables outside our control, the transport risk is on the buyer. From €17.
Larger or heavier parcels may cost more. The exact cost for your country is always shown at checkout.
Shipping days. International live shipments go out Monday–Tuesday only, so a parcel never sits in transit over the weekend. Orders paid before 9:00 are dispatched the same day where possible.
Feeder insects / live food are not shipped internationally. Light accessories and décor are fine.
Live Arrival Guarantee (LAG)
When you choose FedEx Priority, your order is covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee.
If an animal arrives dead (DOA):
- report it within 8 hours of delivery — we apply this in good faith, a small overrun isn't a problem, just contact us as soon as you can,
- include a photo of the animal against the parcel / packing slip, clearly taken right after opening,
- the parcel must have been received on the first delivery attempt (long hours in a courier's van, especially in heat, are dangerous for a living animal).
Compensation: for an approved claim we issue a voucher for the value of the spider (shipping not included), to use on your next order. We compensate with a voucher rather than reshipping a single animal, because sending one spider on its own isn't viable for either side — your voucher lets you combine it with your next purchase.
With DPD, transport risk is on the buyer — due to the longer, less predictable transit, DPD shipments are not covered by the LAG.
Filing a claim: email sklep@argiopeterra.pl or call +48 575 300 103.
After your spider arrives
Open the parcel in a calm, escape-proof space, let the animal settle into its enclosure, and give it a day or two of quiet before feeding. A spider that hides, won't eat for a while, or soon goes into premolt is behaving completely normally.
