Description
Poecilotheria miranda is one of the most distinctive “ornamentals” from India – an arboreal tarantula with an intricate, lace-like pattern and a warm pinkish-red accent on the abdomen that sets it apart within the genus. In the right light its markings look hand-painted.
It is a species for experienced keepers: very fast, alert and able to vanish in an instant. It is not aggressive, but it will not tolerate being disturbed – it would rather flee than fight, so calm and a well-designed enclosure matter. Its venom is potent and medically significant.
As an arboreal species it needs a vertical enclosure with a cork tube or piece of bark to web around, well above the floor. Temperature 27–30°C, humidity 70–80%, gentle ventilation and a water dish. It spends most of its time in its silk retreat near the top of the enclosure.
CITES-listed (Appendix II / EU Annex B). We supply our specimens with full documentation – every spider comes with a captive-breeding certificate and ships with the complete paperwork. A spider purely for observation, for those who appreciate its beauty and temperament.
