Description
A first spider unlike any other — Starter Kit: Jumping Spider or Eresus
This is the version of our "First Spider" set for those who would rather not begin with a tarantula. The jumping spider — a diurnal hunter that pursues its prey by sight, full of personality, a spider that literally looks at its keeper and responds to your presence. Or the Eresus — a spider of the family Eresidae that builds intricate hunting webs and hunts by night. Two completely different paths into the spider-keeping hobby, both suited to a first spider, both arriving complete with everything you need for a gentle start.
The jumping spider set includes:
- Vertical critter box — a special enclosure that lets you open the top without destroying the nest built beneath the lid. Sized for jumping spiders from L5 onwards; for smaller individuals we include a transitional container.
- Artificial plant — decoration and extra space to explore.
- Natural décor elements — to arrange however you like.
- Ready-to-use substrate — optional, depending on the jumping spider species.
- Soft specialist tweezers — for offering small insects.
- Pipette + branded ArgiopeTerra spray bottle — regularly offering water as droplets is fundamental to keeping jumping spiders.
- Attractive climbing mesh — a textured surface the jumping spider can move across freely.
- Triple hide — a space the jumping spider will make its own, perhaps webbing it up or using it as a hunting base.
- Feeder insects — a portion for the first feedings.
- Care guide — a step-by-step walk through the basics.
The Eresidae set includes:
- Critter box — sized for Eresidae from L4 onwards; for smaller individuals a transitional container.
- Natural décor elements — stable anchor points for the hunting webs that the Eresus builds.
- Soft specialist tweezers — for offering insects.
- Pipette — Eresus are kept at low humidity, so a spray bottle is unnecessary.
- Feeder insects — a portion for the first feedings.
- Care guide — the basics of keeping Eresidae.
Packaging: a black branded ArgiopeTerra box bearing our slogan, orange paper shreds, the spider packed safely for transport and covered by our live arrival guarantee (DOA).
Who it's for: anyone who would like to begin the hobby with an active spider (the jumping spider) or a web-architect (the Eresus) rather than the classic tarantula. The jumping spider is the spider social media fell in love with — celebrated for striking macro photography and footage in which it returns your gaze and reacts to its keeper. The Eresus, in turn, fascinates those drawn in by watching behaviour: the building of hunting webs and nocturnal hunts. Choose your path — jumping spider or Eresus — and you'll have the complete starter package in the box. Both are entirely manageable for beginners — simply follow the guide.
