Pterinochilus murinus "Usambara" hails from the Usambara Mountains of northeastern Tanzania, where higher rainfall and dense tropical forest have shaped a locality form that sets itself apart at a glance. The colouration runs warmer and brighter than most Pterinochilus murinus populations — amber and burnished gold rather than the usual rusty ochre, with a crisp, high-contrast pattern across the opisthosoma that looks as though it were pressed from hammered copper. Room temperature is sufficient. Offer cork bark or similar anchor points for webbing — the spider will make full use of them, and the resulting silk landscape becomes a months-long record of the animal's activity.
